What is the IBDP?
The Irish Board of Dance Performance is the only Irish-based dance examining body offering performance-based, encouraging and child-centred exams.
We believe that dance teachers want the dance exam room to be a calm and supportive space where their young dance students are encouraged to perform to the best of their ability. That they want their students to go into an exam smiling and come out beaming. And they want to be able to hold exams with the minimum of stress and hassle – in their own studio or hall, at a time that suits them, with friendly, encouraging examiners, and an easy-to-use booking and results process. In short, we are inclusive, professional, flexible, accessible, helpful and affordable.
We offer a Classical Ballet and Modern Dance syllabus for young people from age three to adult, from Preliminary to Graduate. Use the tabs above to see our syllabus requirements in detail. Use the links on the right for helpful information and resources.
Please note that you must have at least 20 candidates to be eligible for a face-to-face examination.
